Campaign Statement of Jason P. Brogan

I’m Jason Brogan and I’m running for one of two seats on the Select Board. I am running to represent the great many people in Dedham who are not currently being represented by their elected officials.

Dedham is headed in the wrong direction. The Town is being threatened by a massive influx of affordable housing, multi-families, some of which have been intentionally planned by our elected officials and some by State legislature, the MBTA Multi-family by Right being one example. This will put more stress on an already declining school system and other Town resources.

Our Seniors are being forced out of their homes by rising taxes and inflation, I can provide moderate Kennedy era leadership to ensure the stability of our senior population and keep them in their homes.

Elected officials are spending our tax money like drunken sailors on shore leave. The new Town Hall was nearly 100% over the original anticipated cost and it was delivered over a year late with numerous issues. The Ames School which was bought back by the Town (it should have never been sold in the first place) and purchased for nearly $2 million over the appraised value.

There is now a proposal to tear down the old police station and replace it with a park at an estimated cost of $4.2 million, a project that shouldn’t exceed $1.6 million.

When elected, I will work to minimize the influx of affordable housing, keep seniors in their homes and reduce unnecessary spending.

I grew up in Dedham on Taylor Avenue near Endicott Station. My Mother’s family (The Nugent’s) have been in Dedham since 1890. My great grandmother lived in the Manor and raised three boys on her own as a single mother. My grandfather bought his first house on Oak St. in East Dedham then settled at 199 Whiting Ave across from the football field parking lot. My mother Sue Ann is a nurse, and my father, Chris is a Marine Veteran who after the Vietnam war, worked his way up from the position of deckhand in Local 333, to becoming a merchant marine captain and pilot. I have two older brothers who are both Marine Veterans.

I attended Dedham High School, Class of 1994 where I ran Spring and Winter Track as well as Cross Country. I currently hold the Dedham High Pole Vault record. Not exactly a transferable skill in the workplace but nonetheless a fun event.

I am the first in my family to graduate from college, Bridgewater State University, class of 1998. I bought my first single family house on Cedar St. then settled at 5 Ware St. in East Dedham, where I’ve lived with my wife Jaime and 3 boys for the last 16 years.

I’ve had a long and successful career working in Information Technology (computer stuff) for the last 21 years. I’ve built and managed large teams to execute on multi-million technology implementations in industries ranging from Health Care &, Financial Technology to Higher Education & Banking.

For the last 20 years I’ve built a very successful real estate investment company and have learned to do everything from plumbing & electrical (Don’t tell Carmen or Jim) to framing and tile work. I love to learn and get things done.
